In just over a week, Spectralink is excited that we’ll be exhibiting at our first North American Cisco Live! Las Vegas show! This is Cisco’s main North American conference attended by over 25,000 Cisco partners, resellers, and ecosystem members on July 10-14, 2016.
Whether they are on the front lines of a hospital emergency room, conducting health screenings for children at a local elementary school, or visiting the homebound as part of hospice care, nurses improve people’s lives every single day.
Yesterday we announced our partnership with Cisco as a member of their Solution Partner Program. But there’s a lot more behind this announcement I want to highlight. Cisco’s Solution Partner Program is an interoperability program and Spectralink has been a part of that for many years supporting Cisco call control and Wi-Fi solutions.
Roger Ebert said “a review should reflect the immediate experience”. In the case of a consumer technology reviewer looking at the PIVOT:S enterprise device, the immediate experience isn’t five stars. This is not surprising. The attributes that make the PIVOT:S handset ideal for users in hospitals, home improvement stores, and factories are not going to excite a consumer electronics reviewer.
We are honored to be supporting some of our Application, Integration, and Management Solutions (AIMS) partners in their upcoming events in the next few months. Connexall, Spōk, and Voalte are each hosting events with Spectralink as a sponsor:
In my previous blog, I discussed the newest vulnerability in the Android operating system and how it affects Spectralink products. Since then, Spectralink has released version 1.6.1 of our phone firmware that not only completely fixes Stagefright, but also includes a few other non-security related bug fixes.
Yesterday Apple and Cisco announced that they were teaming up to optimize Cisco networks to support Apple iOS devices. The announcement stated that Cisco will optimize their networks to support Apple devices and also optimize their collaboration solutions, including Spark and WebEx for iOS. Another interesting part of the announcement was that the two companies are working together to make the iPhone a better business tool by providing a seamless experience between iPhones and desk phones.
Yesterday we announced our plans to open a new EMEA sales headquarters in London. This is particularly exciting for me as I’ll be working directly with our EMEA sales team through the transition and getting more firsthand exposure to our global opportunities. Spectralink has had a global view since the first Wi-Fi products were launched in the late ‘90s.
The number one question I’m asked by healthcare IT teams is about implementing Secure Text Messaging on mobile devices. They recognize that without providing a solution, their clinicians will resort to texting using consumer applications on their own personal smartphones for work related communication, regardless of policies prohibiting it.
Battery life consistently shows up as a top concern in consumer cell phone surveys. The enterprise market, with its mission critical devices, is no different. Battery life is a funny thing though – power off your phone completely and its battery will last for weeks. An extreme example for sure, but it illustrates the need to balance usefulness with battery life.
